Leak in the laundry area: time to learn how to solder copper

I noticed a leak in the laundry area, inside the wall (the new carpet was wet at the bottom of the wall). I didn’t want to let that linger and decided to just remove the drywall and fix things myself – and install a new washing machine box and connection valves while I was at it. Problem is: this is all copper tubing and I don’t have the tools nor have I ever soldered copper before. Well, nothing like learning on the job (and once again: that book is great)…

Don’t forget to also get a Solder Heat Shield! I didn’t realize how important it was until one of the stud started burning…
